Charlie Delaronde R.I.P

My dear Uncle...

You taught me how to play checkers.....I remember playing for hours as a kid trying ever so hard to win a game, I think I won one, Although I may never have won a single game growing up and over the years... you were the Wizard....I still hear your laugh...."My guitar man" as you called me......you gave me the confidence to play....

I always loved coming home and coming over for a visit....playing the ol Hank Willaims SR. songs for you....playing whatever I could to impress my Uncle with new songs which i had just learned.

Of all my dad's family, I was closest to you......you never had an unkind word for me...never.

I'll always think of you when I sing "mansion on the hill"....when I drive past your home in pinecreek, and you will always be in my heart.

To the cribbage games you always played with my dad, to Rummy with koko, and to all the songs we sang through out the years.....I know you are happy now....I know you are with koko in a better place.....love you Uncle Charlie.

I am glad I came home for your birthday party in December, wouldn't have missed it for the world. See you again......

Your guitar man.

Hello.

So.....I'll start by saying..hello.
.
Hi...I missed everyone.....thanks for popping in.
.
Right to the point.
.
I will be at the Winnipeg Regional Meeting campaigning for a position with The Local Management Board.
.
The LMB as it is more commonly known, is a great place to establish re-newed interest in the MMF and it's people. A great place to help bring dollars to the grassroots people that so dearly need help with training, education and quality jobs.
.
I was debating the whole situation, wondering if I can make a difference, talking with various individuals wondering if I had it in me to take a run at politics.
.
So.....personally, I now know that I am, and and always was.
.
I want the LMB and the MMF back where it used to be. I want the pride back. To be Metis...I never needed a card....I knew in my heart growing up that I was Metis. Since Metis day's in Duck Bay, since being in grade 3 and remembering my music teacher Mr. Sanderson singing.."Not red enough, not white enough, which way will they goooo....the Metiiiiiiiis"......I knew I would some day play an interegal part in the MMF. Is this that time ??
.
We are all Metis people.
.
MY heart is here. I want to be able to help our people grow, mature, heal, and learn. Learn to be a proud Nation once again. I wish everyone could understand the passion I have for doing what is right. Karma. It's all around us.
.
Our elders need support, our youth need education, and we all need jobs, where at the end of the day we can feel good about ourselves. I basically want to bring the trust back to the MMF. Bring the accountability back, bring a renewed sense of hope back to our people. Typing this, trying to get my thoughts out correctly while the phone rings left and right is not helping, but please bare with me.
.
I know in my heart that I will be a positive role model for our youth, and a strong voice for our people. Please support a dream that we can all be a part of. The choice is yours, the voice is ours.....thank you for this brief moment of your time.
.
It's nice to be back....although...I guess I was always here....meegwetch.

Demolistion's Specialist

So, kablam !!!

Being back in the city has been nothing short of vantastic, and to be very honest...I couldn't see myself anywhere else in the world. To my beatiful, spending time with you and "The Boy" ;op has been great...a couple top priorities to say the least, and yes, the Barb-b-ques have been awesome too, and yes..I am single..lol..any whoo...

It's been a great week and I have gone back to my ol' ways working in the demolition industry.

Getting to break things with the "as long as it comes down" attitude has been great. To my bro, Eric, doesn't matter who I marry, you'll be my best man...till the end. I know growing up, my mom would whoop my ass if I ever broke anything in the house, so I guess this is my way of getting over those younger days. ;op too funny.

My sweet Michelle....lol...the voice of an angel, we do have to get together again....sorry I've been so busy...and Candace...probably the only girl that could ever tie me down again..Friday was a great time...;op...call me....

But that's it, in a nutshell....hockey playoffs where all messed up....both Vancouver and Dallas, my teams....every goal I was cheering...lol...got some weird looks at Player's one night...too funny, but yes...Vancouver prevailed...to Waylon (Edmonton) and Mike (Colorado), love you guys...but eat your heart out...LOL...Go Canucks go....

AS far as the MMF goes....hmmm....stopped in last week to speak with the President of the MMF, seems there was a line up, lol, busy man doing busy things, but to be leaving the really Important people there in the hallway waiting, people in positions that I hope to have someday, in a meeting with Trachenburg the lawyer, (whatever his name is)..says alot to me, shows where the priorities are, or, maybe it was just bad timing ;op

...regardless, I will be President of the MMF, first, I gotta sit on the board..and 500 people can't be wrong...soon...whenever David decides to step down...lol....4 Terms already ??...wow....gotta be doing something right...and Yes....David is my cousin...so there, I still supported Dumont and Ron Chartrand, Ron...the Best person for the Job, big heart too....Go Winnipeg Region !!! Randy De La Ronde for Board of directors 2010....President 2014 ???...Go big or go home I say...I also say "Duck Bay all the Way !!!" lol...

So that leaves me here getting ready for to go out for dinner and a movie....I love Winnipeg...I love the Women down Pembina....especially today....and yes, I work with the Stereotypical construction crew, lol...good to be back as your friendly neighbourhood "Demolitions Specialist"

From my HI5.com...Elect Randy Delaronde 2010 Campaign

http://www.hi5.com/friend/group/displayGroupFront.do?groupId=1784451

Topic: MMF is questionable.

Randy- MMF needs a huge revamping. I'm a member, but like to deny the fact because (1) I am disappointed in the organization and (2) Aboriginal People don't need a card to prove their ancestry, although everyone seems to forget that these days. I'd like to remind everyone that a having Metis card does not prove that you are Metis, it proves that you are a member of a political organization. I am disappointed in MMF because they receive a lot of money, but don't seem to be doing anything directly for the community. Metis people were colonized in the same way First Nations people were, so our people are suffering the same effects... yet we get nothing from the Federal government, and nothing from our own political organization. If you're serious about running, I would recommend: 1. Community Based Programs to help the Metis people directly AND to change people's perspective of the organization, because let's face it, lots of people think they are a bunch of criminals. 2. Pumping more money into EDUCATION. MMF does nothing for university students. The fund a select few in their last year of undergrad studies, but no one really knows the mandate for that. My colleague is a doctor and MMF turned down her application. Why not investing some money into the community academics and not just the college/trade school students? 3. Clearly define "Metis". People seem to think that if you are half Aboriginal, you are Metis. Sorry folks, you've been lied to. MMF needs to clear up all those misconceptions. I have a lot more recommendations, but it would just take way too long. If anyone would like some MMF reading material I would recommend "Rotten to the Core: The Politics of the Manitoba Metis Federation" for some light reading and a little glimpse into the shady history of our provincial political representing body. So hopefully you'll tidy things up over there if you're voted in. MMF is going to be coming into a lot of money with this Supreme Court case, and I really hope it makes a difference to the Metis people of Manitoba and the prairies, and not just the employees of MMF. -Julie Lafreniere MMF# MW10453

I too am disappointed with the direction that the MMF is taking. I feel that housing, education, employment and accountabilty should be some of the major concerns regarding the Federation.

Alot of focus has been towards the Land Claims Case and our hunting and fishing rights...this is great. BUT. With a 20 million dollar budget, is this all that we can accomplish ? The Federation over looked over 100 housing units in the Winnipeg Region. No proposal was ever offered to the Government, and yet, the Units themselves were offered for 1 dollar. The high ranking "officials" within the Federation were aware of this, and yet nothing was done in respect to pursuing these housing units.

I also feel that monies should be made available to University students...as far as dollars are concerned, $248.00 every two weeks can help anyone, this too should be increased, as some students are in full time studies and have little or no time to work part time jobs. During my years after high school, i had to find part time employment while going to Red River, and all i can say is it was hard....some of the load could have been taking off with even a few extra dollars.

As a whole, the MMF needs to be revamped. There is no accountability and the people are upset with a select few recieving "X" amount of dollars on a continuous basis. The motto "Me and My Family" is one that comes to mind, the "either your with me or your against me" attitude has got to go. Old school politics at it's best.

I hope to change this, and really...i know i can. I just need the support of the people and a strong mandate. If your a Metis and you know this, a card is the only way you are allowed to vote...if you need help in this area or have any more questions...feel free to contact me at 998-3181...keep it riel.

Nice to be home.

So, the trip out west was fascinating to say the least, the people alone could account for the most fun I've had in a long time. Edmonton, Blackfalls, Hobima, Red Deer, Wetaskiwin and a few other place played host to myself and a few other's.

Coming home, I'm discouraged to see that the MMF Winnipeg Regional meeting hosted roughly 70 people or which, let's just say 20 were staff. Reluctant to take into note any serious inquarries, it seems that nobody really cares what happens at the Regional level here in Winnipeg. Regardless, it is here that we may have the most influence.

Gone are the days of 2 day scoffels, and scandals regarding funding, bogus checks, unstantiated allegations, funding promises, and the true grittiness of yore. Or are they ?

Seems to me people got tired of talking to closed doors. Got tired of opening up the fridge and seeing no food as some would say. As opposed to an apple, perhaps just another bill to be paid by our already overly charged budget. A budget, funny thing, is it ever really followed ?

I myself grow tired of the same silly people doing the same silly things. I think a great revamping is needed in order bring credibility back to our people, our Nation.

The next MMF election is slated for 2010....wow, seems so far away....and yet it doesn't. I will be running for board of directors for the Winnipeg Region. To many days our representatives sit idle in the closed board rooms preparing to do nothing.

Talking to the people, nobody cares....The MMF is a corporation that only reflects the needs of it's own survival. Mind you, the land claims case, and other opportunities are there. But, will still see the same two tiered system of who gets funding and how much. Who gets selected for training programs ? We all should have equal opportunity. We are all Metis'.

20 million dollars annually......there has to be a better way....nice to be home.

Ron Chartrand, Camperville.

My dear friend....I miss you with all my heart and I know that it was not your time. I learned all my Ernest Monias songs for you and your loving wife Mona. I don't know what to say. It's sad to say that I tried calling you Saturday, I wish I could've got a hold of you, maybe just maybe things would be different. It's hard to say goodbye, I just picked you up last time I was out there, we went out and sang some songs, had some brews....you always had a smile for me, an open door, my friend, my brother....i miss you bro...i am in DuckBay now....i had to be here....i need to say goodbye...i need to see you again...everything else can wait....you were my inspiration to pick up the guitar again...to learn new songs, to sing.... how many time did we have hang over soup together, remember you and Jen always picking me up, walking back from Guiboche's in the middle of the night, couldn't see a thing, but we could hear each other, singing outside by the fire, playing guitar....while i was out here, you were my best friend...you will always be my best friend....monamee'. Till I see you again.
